Hottest Halloween Costume Ideas For Men, Women, And Children

Article by Candy Spring

The best Halloween costume ideas change from year to year based on popular celebrities and unpopular politicians as well as other facets of pop culture. After all, Halloween is a great time for folks to pretend to be someone other than themselves. Such a huge part of Halloween is getting the perfect Halloween outfits and going trick-or-treating or to a Halloween party, but there are variety of other activities that folks enjoy on Halloween as well.

Once people have come up with cool Halloween costume ideas for themselves, they can generally either buy pre-maid costumes or make the outfits themselves. It just depends on how much time, and money they have and how creative they are. Sometimes the best costume is a combination of store-bought and handmade clothing and accessories.

On Halloween, kids, (and sometimes adults as well), put on their Halloween outfits and go trick-or-treating or to parties across the country. For homes where either no one is home to give children a treat or the family just decides not to pass out treats, they may find themselves the subject of a trick by the children (thus the activity is called trick-or-treating).

For adults, Halloween typically means a costume party. Halloween outfit ideas for women are often sexy and a bit mischievous. Halloween costume ideas for men are often scary or funny, but can really cover a wide spectrum of outfits and accessories. Today, many couples put together Halloween costume sets. For example, a guy may dress up as Charlie Sheen and his girlfriend may dress up as one of Charlie’s live-in “goddesses.”

Teens often dress as popular music, television, and movie stars while younger kids enjoy a wide range of Halloween costumes including cartoon characters, princesses, animals, ghosts, and more.

Many families put together exciting group costumes; for example, mom and dad may dress up as Homer and Marge Simpson while the kids could go as Bart, Lisa, and Maggie Simpson. Many people even include their pets in on the fun and there are a wide variety of dog and cat costumes available as well.

Your own Halloween costume ideas are only limited by your own imagination. It is never too early to start planning your next show-stopping outfit for Halloween. Check out more Halloween costume ideas at halloweencostumeideas101.com today.

5 Budget Halloween Costumes for Children

Article by Angela Marino

Halloween is fast approaching and the children have already started to talk about it. They are thinking about something cool to wear, and you are thinking about something inexpensive.

Imagine your children’s happiness while wearing their Halloween costume. That would be something priceless to see and you don’t have to sacrifice that just because budget is an issue. How about make your own costume instead out from what you already have in your home. Here are some great budget Halloween costume ideas for you.

Pirate

Kids love pirates. And not only boys can wear them. Look for some sailor pants or jeans. Wear a striped shirt with buttons and tie a bandana around their head. Accessories include an eye patch and an empty bottle with an image of a skull with “X” bones. Pirates usually have a wooden leg. So what you can do is to wrap one leg with a brown felt paper, instant fake wooden leg. Finally, ask your kids to mutter “aargh” and “Trick or treat, matey!”.

Injured Person

This costume doesn’t need much. You can make it look like someone just had an accident. Plus, children think it’s cool. Now dig for one of their old clothes and start ripping and getting them dirty. Add some plasters, band aids and some bandages in your child‘s head and body. Use your make up to make some fake wounds and make it look more dramatic by adding some fake blood or ketchup.

Old Person

For an old man costume, you can use a long sleeves shirt, a pair of dark or grey pants, a flannel hat and a walking cane. For an old woman, an old-fashioned dress, knee-high stockings and a purse. Use your make-up and create some wrinkles on their forehead and make their eyes look old. Then work on their hair to make it look grey with powder or a little flour.

Farmer

Another costume that is easy to make. You need a denim overall, a checkered shirt and a working boots. Finish the costume with a straw hat, a bandana around his/her neck and some hays.

Deviled Egg

Deviled eggs doesn’t only make great appetizer but as a funny Halloween costume as well. Yes, you can buy on of this costume probably at Walmart. Still, you can just make your own version right from your home. All you have to do is have your child wear all white, a white sweat shirt or a white gown. Then tape or paint a yellow circle in the middle. For the finishing touches, of course, add devils horns, tail and a pitchfork. Pretty easy right?

Things to do in the October Half Term Holidays with the Children

Where to go with the Children in the October Half Term Holidays?

“What are we doing today?”

Now that the weather is changing in the UK  and we suddenly find ourselves in Autumn, we sometimes need to put a bit more thought into how to how to keep ourselves and our children entertained. Whether you stay in the UK or look to escape to the fairer climate abroad, we’ve come up with a few suggestions for you.

Home

Halloween! One of the highlights for my children during this season is Halloween and all the preparation and festivity that goes in to it. Rather than just picking up a pumpkin from the supermarket, why not take a trip to a local farm to choose yours. It feels a lot more special when the children actually see where the pumpkins come from and pick out their own. A lot of farms decorate barns and some have festivities for the children such as carving etc. If you are looking for a bit of inspiration when designing the scary face it can be helpful to google pumpkin face designs which you can print off and even use as a template.

Rather than throwing away the inside of the pumpkins, many people are now using them for recipes such as pumpkin pie and soup which leads another activity for Halloween; cooking!

It’s not always easy to encourage children to cook, especially boys, but Halloween makes it a lot more fun. Things that children in particular might enjoy are: baking cakes/fairy cakes and decorating them with fancy Halloween faces or they could try their hands at making jelly/orange pumpkins.  Take 4 oranges, cut the top off and scoop out the orange.  Then cut faces in the orange as you would with a pumpkin.  Make the jelly and leave to set in a bowl.  When the jelly is set, you can add it to the oranges.

Collecting Conkers:  Like blackberry picking you need to plan your route to make sure you come across a few conker trees but why not take a long walk and see how many conkers you can find? You can have a contest to see who can find the most, the biggest, the smallest or the strangest shaped!

Make a “Guy”. A great indoor activity in the lead up to Guy Fawkes night is building Guy. Unleash  the children on some old clothes, old tights and socks to stuff with newspaper and their own artistic rendition of what they think Guy Fawkes looked like. Whether he ends up on a bonfire, or you want to give your children a mini history lesson on the events that lead up to Guy Fawkes night, is up to you but they will definitely have fun making their own “Guy”.

Holidays

If you decide that what you need at this time of the year is a bit more sunshine then there are quite a few options available to you. For those in search of almost guaranteed sunshine, Dubai has to be top of the list for holiday destinations in the October Half Term.  The weather in Dubai is very hot (generally 30-40 degrees at this time of year), dry and sunny.  The rapid expansion in the country, means that there are many modern hotels, most of which are of an excellent standard. We can highly recommend, the Royal Meridien Hotel, Jumeirah Beach, Grosvenor House and the Atlantis. Staff are both efficient and friendly,  the children love the pools, children’s club, the food and most of all they love the wonderful water parks at Wild Wadi and Atlantis.

Cyprus is another very popular country to visit at this time of year.  Again, they have very good weather, perhaps not quite as guaranteed as Dubai but a good 10/15 degrees warmer than the UK.  Hotels in Cyprus are generally of a very high standard with great service, fabulous food, especially the fish and beautiful scenery.  Most hotels have very good kids clubs.

Our recommendation is Paphos.  There is something there for everyone, beautiful sea and beaches and the mountains are very close by which make for an excellent day trip.

Obviously there are many place, but these are a couple of our favourites for the October Half Term and I hope you find the suggestions helpful to you and your family.

Children and Teens Looking for Easy Halloween Costume Ideas on a Budget

Easy Halloween Costume Ideas for Children and Teens

Every year, people buy hundreds of dollars worth of costumes and accessories to make a big splash when the spookiest night of the year rolls around. I’m referring to Halloween, of course. But why pay all that money especially if you’re on a budget? If you want to hold back some of your hard-earned money, then read on because this article will help you do just that. Little ones can benefit from these easy to make Halloween costume concepts and you will not have to take out a loan to do it.

When I say “easy” I’m talking about conveniently available supplies that are quick and with very little cost. Great costumes can be created with things you just might currently have available at your household. In fact, these ideas for costumes can likely be offered by your kids.

For the younger age bracket, you may likely require two costumes, which may come as a surprise to most of you. But the reality of it is that some kids love dressing up as one persona for their school Halloween party and a wholly different one when it comes time to going through the neighborhood Halloween night to obtain their candy. Another reason why is that it may be a school’s dress code that prevents the child from being dressed in what they truly want to wear. All the more motive to locate something that is inexpensive yet something that the kid will delight in. After all, part of the pleasure of Halloween costumes is the surprise, right?

To start with, look inside your child‘s closet. If your child is like most other individuals, then you should have no challenge finding a wide assortment of play garments. Items that may be found include princess dresses, tiaras, cowboy hats, lassos, themed pajamas, and the list goes on and on. Dress-up bins and closets are basically treasure chests of ideas.

Perhaps you have a young girl who has taken a liking to be a queen. What girl doesn’t? The chances are good that you’ve known about this for some time and have previously purchased a princess outfit or a tiara. This will provide you with the fundamentals of the costume. From there you can apply an appropriate amount of makeup, which will most certainly make her feel special. For fashion accessories consider a wand, clip on earrings, perhaps even some shoes that you wouldn’t mind spraying with glitter paint. The great thing about this costume is that if you do not have much to put one together, you can quickly find what you need at your dollar discount retailer.

For the girl who is a teen, a queen will not likely be her costume of choice. They’re more interested in characters they see in movies (think Twilight), or who they read about or see on TV. Rock stars are always a good standby. In these cases, they are more likely to go through your closet than their’s. Getting some old T-shirts and ripping off the sleeves will help with the rock star look. Have a pair of old jeans you don’t mind cutting or shredding up a little? Not only is a wig fun, but it also offers the most considerable way to modify the teen’s look which is what they are going for, naturally.

Sometimes traditional costumes, like the <a href =”http://www.missmuffetcostume.com”>Miss Muffet costume</a>, are the ones that get the most attention at Halloween parties, not to mention that they can be the most recognizable characters to dress up as. All it takes are a few carefully considered choices.
