Tips in Choosing Halloween Costumes
Aside from Christmas, Easter Sunday and Thanksgiving, Halloween is also one of the most celebrated holidays around the world. Many people are preparing for this event since children will do some trick or treat while adults enjoy a good Halloween party. In some cases, malls are doing some gimmicks to attract children and one is having a trick or treat program. That is why, avid Halloween fans prepare for parties and Halloween costumes.
For many people, choosing a Halloween costume is an important part of the whole Halloween experience. Many prepare for this even a month before Halloween to avoid rush purchases. Preparing early will make them outstanding among the others. Others however are contented with what they see on the market or in their closet. Regardless of the preparations, is the person really wearing the right Halloween costume for him or her?
Tips in Choosing a Halloween Costume
– Before buying an outfit, comfort should be the number one priority. Either doing the trick or treat or simply attending parties, the person should be comfortable with the Halloween costume. It should also match with the weather. Wearing a very thin piece of clothing on a cold night will not only cause the person to be uncomfortable, eventually getting sick.
– The costume should also fit into the theme of the party. If the prevalent theme is futuristic or Lady Gaga inspired, wearing a cowboy costume won’t surely fit in. If the party is an all gown-up crowd or if there are children involved, wearing skimpy outfit is not a good choice. However, it is advised to choose a costume that responds or is associated with current events because it can be a good topic. The downside though is that some people might think the Halloween costume is poorly planned.
– Safety should be thought of. As much as possible the outfit should not include lights and sharp objects because it can hurt many people especially the kids and the one who wears the outfit as well. When intricate head accessories are used, the vision should not be impaired because it can cause accidents.
– A special tip for buying or choosing kid‘s costume is that it is very important to consider the preferences of the kids. Parents should not insist what they want. After all, it is the child who will wear the costume and not the parent. So if the child wants to wear Spiderman costume or wants to be Dora, let them be.
– Ultimately, budget should be given attention when buying Halloween costumes. These costumes can be made by hand especially if the theme or design is one-of-a-kind or if there is enough time. There are a number of costumes that are not expensive yet it looks elegant and it stands out at the crowd. Thrift shops are also available everywhere and they sell really cheap items. Using old clothes from the closet can still be worn and adding some accessories or putting a twist on it can be fun.
If you run out of ideas, there is nothing to worry. There are magazines, internet, and other media outfits that can help you achieve that outstanding Halloween Costumes.

The Right Way in Choosing and Carving Your Halloween Pumpkins
An attractive accessory to your Halloween costume this year, would be a well designed pumpkin. Select one with no bruises or spots, because it will last longer. The difficulty when selecting, is we usually see a pumpkin as a large face. So for example, you might pick one that a family member always bought and carved out in to a grinner. Maybe you go for the oddly shaped one that needs looking after. You can see how they start to take on a life of their own.
Skilled carvers use utility knives and all sizes of small saws to make their life easier. You may have a double edged serrated knife which is particularly good for small areas because you can cut in both directions.
An apple corer is excellent for making holes to represent freckles. Cookie cutters can be tapped through the pumpkin to punch out the design. As a guide, cut open the top of your pumpkin in a five sided shape and angle the cut inwards so the top does not fall inside.
Scoop out all the insides so you leave a shell no more than one inch thick. Before you start, sketch out on paper what you want it to look like. This will serve as a good guide to the finished article. You can paste your drawing on the pumpkin to help guide you. Always try to make your mistakes on paper first. It is far easier to ditch it and start again before you have even started cutting.
If you have been to a Halloween festival you know that no two pumpkins look the same. You can experiment with winking eyes, teeth, freckles and angry eyebrows. If you do make a mistake in your carving you can re attach a piece with toothpicks.
Finally, you can preserve your pumpkin longer if you keep it cool and do not start cutting until nearer Halloween. This is because they retain moisture and will last longer. After you have cut it you can still retain it longer by dipping it into water. Cover all cut surfaces with petroleum, jelly or vegetable oil. All these steps seal the moisture into the pumpkin and keep it in good condition for Halloween’s eve.

We have one little boy that’s six years old and an adorable set of twins, 10 months. We decided we wanted to dress the babies up for halloween, even though they are a bit young. We always take our son out on that holiday and then we visit our family so they can see him all dressed up. This year we have two more to deck out in halloween garb. The costume we bought our son last year seem to fall apart before we even covered the first street. First the sash on his ninja outfit tore off and then the pants ripped down the side. It cost us much more than it was worth. For the price we paid it should have at least lasted through one night. I figured this year we would skip the local costume stores and try finding something online.
I found all kinds of childrens and costumes for babies. My little son was so excited when I showed him all the choices there were for him to choose from. He must have changed his little mind a dozen times. He liked the pirates and all the super heroes. It was hard for him to pick only one costume. With so many costumes to choose from it was just a little too overwhelming for a six year old. We just let him go on and on choosing and changing his mind for a while. We just let him pick out as many costumes as he wanted. When we finally agreed on the baby costumes for the twins, we made things easier for our son to pick his. We did run into a little trouble when it came to choosing a baby costume for the twins.] My husband and I was having a bit of a problem agreeing on the baby costumes. I thought the baby bunting costumes were the best for them. But my husband had other baby costume ideas. So we had a little disagreement going on. He thought the buntings looked too much like newborn baby costumes.
So, we agreed that I would choose the babies costume for our little girl and he would handle our sons. Our baby boy became Woody from toy story, as my husbands choice. I picked out of the babies costumes an adorable little lady bug bunting costume, for our little girl. Our six year old finally decided on a spiderman costume this year. He really looked so cute in his little outfit. As soon as spiderman popped up in the costume selection, my son was done shopping. Spiderman is his favorite super hero. It’s his main cartoon show to watch. So, of course he’s thrilled to dress up like Spiderman.
Each one of our children had a halloween costume coming soon. I was anxious for delivery so I could see what the kids would looked like in them. I want lots of pictures of the kids in costumes this year.
We put in our order for halloween props and house decorations too. We really went all out on home decorations for halloween this time. We do like to decorate for halloween and this is a chance we couldn’t pass up. There were so many cool ideas for props, like a crawling hand, a hanging ghoul and more. The halloween party supplies were just as inexpensive as the costumes we ordered. That really made my husband a happy camper. He loves to decorate for the holidays. We ordered a pumpkin that blinks on and off and the twins can’t take their eyes off it. They are just fascinated with it.
Well, our halloween order was delivered. They were super accessories and costumes. They were very prompt with the delivery. The costumes made the kids look so adorable. Going online to find halloween costumes and decorations was the best idea we’ve ever had.
