Ideals for creating Halloween Art

Halloween art sets the stage for the scariest holiday of the year.  Well before October 31 rolls around, you’ll want to get busy creating the seasonal decorations that will set the tone for the entire month.

The most common images in Halloween art include:

ghosts and haunted houses
witches, broomsticks and cauldrons
pumpkins and jack o’lanterns
spiders and cobwebs
monsters
werewolves
vampires and bats
skulls and skeletons
gravestones

Both adults and children alike enjoy creating Halloween arts and crafts that bring these strange and macabre images to life.  Here are some hands-on ideas for Halloween arts and crafts:

Color in Halloween images with markers, crayons, paint, or even digitally using your computer

Cut outlines of spiders, bats, and witches’ hats out of black paper
Cut out body parts from magazines and paste them on thick paper to make your own monsters
Create your own gravestone using black marker on grey paper
Draw a pair of eyes and a wide, smiling mouth full of teeth on a pumpkin, and carve it out to create a jack o’lantern

To get in the holiday spirit, hang your 2-D Halloween arts and crafts in your front windows or on your front door.  Place your 3-D Halloween art projects on your doorstep or front lawn.

The most exciting form of “Halloween art” is your costume!  Whether you are a 7 years old or 77 years old, on October 31 you can transform yourself into someone (or something) else.  This is where your imagination has free reign – you can change your appearance however you want by wearing a costume, a wig, and/or make-up.  Whether you are the one trick-or-treating or the one answering the door with a bowl of candy, Halloween is a holiday full of surprises, where nothing is quite what it seems.

As the leaves start to change and the brisk autumn breezes begin to blow, you will inevitably be hit with that annoying question, “What are you going to be for Halloween?” And just like every other year, you will be completely dumbfounded and caught off guard like Brittney Spears exiting a limousine. And don’t even pretend like you don’t yearn for an amazingly awesome, talk-of-the-party, unforgettable costume. Well, guess what? I will make your wildest dreams come true. Well, not your wildest, but I might spark some good ideas for this year’s fright fest.

Women have it easy. They can get away with showing a little skin and discretely placing the word “sexy” before any costume’s title (i.e. sexy pirate, sexy bumble bee, etc.) and will look great. Unfortunately, if you are member of the male gender, you are forced to think up a clever costume because stuffing your out-of-shape body into a Speedo will be a little too scary.

How should you get noticed this Halloween? Well gentlemen, show off the sexiest part of you body—you mind. Sporting a smart and well-thought out costume can show off your creativity and humor—and women love a guy who can make them laugh.

First of all, make sure they are laughing with you—not at you. If you can’t remember the last time you got to the gym, you should probably stay away from spandex. I know a big belly can be a sign of power and wealth in some cultures; unfortunately in America this is not the case. So tip numero uno: Wear a costume that will be comfortable all night. I come from the northeast where the temperatures dip down to the single digits by October. One of my costume’s required a pair of hot pants and a t-shirt—not the best idea. I was freezing all night and almost caught pneumonia.

I’m not going to give you actual ideas because that wouldn’t be creative. Rather, I will guide you on coming up with your own original concept. You should start by making your costume custom tailored to you. For instance, if your name is Matt you could paste a bunch of linoleum flooring pieces all over your body and wear a “Hello my name is: Matt” sticker and go as a floor mat. Feel free to get creative and build off this idea—there are a lot of different types of mats out there. If your name if Mike, think of an idea where you can have a “mic.” A personal costume is great for sparking conversations and introductions.

In addition to incorporating your name into the costume, construct an outfit that will engage others. Maybe design a pair of overalls made from an old twister mat. This way the ladies will literally have their hands all over you. I recommend working any popular, old school game into your costume. People love nostalgia—can’t get enough of it.

Not impressed by the ideas thus far? Already tossed your hungry, hungry hippos? Try to expand your thinking. Think outside the box. Hey, that’s an idea! Make a hat with a box attached to it and you will literally be thinking “outside the box.” Phrases like that can make clever costumes. Also consider working food into your outfit, for a “tasty” idea. There’s nothing like showing how “sweet” you are than covering yourself in lollipops.

Hopefully this helps get your creative juices flowing. I hope I don’t see a million auto floor mats this Halloween; you’re better than that. At least come up with your own brand and write something like Weathertech all over. –Mike Rosania

All of us want to become good parents for our kids. Spending quality time with your kids is very essential in order to come close to your kids. In fact it is the best gift you can give to your child. Yet, it is easy to spend time with the grown up kids. We often keep wandering as to what activities do we do with them.

Surprisingly, we often underestimate our toddler‘s abilities. Teach your toddlers some fun craft activities and help them carry on the same. You can look for many free and easy Halloween crafts that your little one would love to work on with you. Here are some interesting ideas to try out.

1. Bat with hand prints.

For this you primarily need some paper plates & washable black paint meant especially for craft purposes. Pour some black paint in the paper plate. Tell your child to put his hand in the paint. Make sure that his hand is fully covered. Now add a sheet of paper, press the child’s hand on one side with splayed fingers. Now, turn the paper towards back. Dip your child‘s hand in the paint again and press his again hand on the paper following the heels of the imprint made before. Stick googly eyes to this bat or paint the eyes using white color. Make a hole at the top. Attach a string through this hole to hang the bat. Make many of these and hang all around the child‘s room.

2. Halloween Ornaments with Fun Foam

Fun foam is among the essential craft items especially among the kids. This Halloween collect some chunks of fun foam typically in the Halloween shades that are black, orange, green and white. Now, draw some ovals and circles on the fun foam. With safety scissors let your child brush his or her craft & cutting skills. Make them cut out these shapes out of the fun foam. Mean while, you go ahead cutting shapes from the remaining pieces of fun foam. You might opt to work on interesting patterns like witches, scary cats, bats, ghosts, and many more. These shapes can easily be found on the internet. Now stick on these varied shapes on the ovals & circles you ha cut earlier. Finally, punch a hole on the top. Put a string in this hole and hang your child‘s Halloween ornaments where ever you wish in the house!

While these are just a few ideas, free and easy toddler Halloween crafts are very commonly found on the internet. Now-a-days there are several web sites focusing on these crafts. These are easy and fun activities for kids of all ages. These fun projects are simple and memorable activities to carry on with your toddlers. Try these and gift your child moments for life!
