Are you tired of the same old boring Halloween costumes? There’s no doubt that the conventional themes have been overdone. After all, how many witches, ghosts, goblins, and monsters do you really want to see?
Why not take a different approach this Halloween season and dress like a genius? You can make a unique statement that people will notice. Here are some ideas for dressing like a genius this Halloween:
Dress up like Einstein
You’ll make quite a statement when you emerge in your Albert Einstein costume. Make sure you have a gray wig with disheveled hair and some nondescript, baggy clothing. To add to the mood you’ll want to wear a cape with some of Einstein‘s physics formulas painted on them. A gray stick on mustache should complete the look. Imagine the fun of being Einstein for a day!
Dress up like a modern computer geek.
You probably already know the look but if you need help, you may want to search the internet for some close up photos of real life computer geeks. Be sure to wear the requisite bifocals and carry a bag of cheetos with you to the party. To add to the effect, why not wear two different colored shoes and socks and a t-shirt that says, “I love technology”?
Dress up like a learned philosopher from the past.
Some suggestions might be Aristotle, Plato, or Descartes. Although there are no photographs to pattern your costume after, you probably have a pretty good idea in your mind of how these great minds might have looked. You’ll probably want to wear a long tunic with sandals and sport a gray beard. Be sure to dazzle everyone with great thoughts and sayings such as, “I think, therefore I am”.
Dress up like a mad scientist.
This one should be pretty easy. You’ll want to apply stiff hair pomade to your hair to get it to stand straight up. Put on some huge bifocals and choose an unmatched, disheveled set of clothing. To add to the effect, carry some test tubes and flasks in your hand. Try to look completely preoccupied.
Dress up like a valedictorian.
Just because you graduated last in your class, doesn’t mean you can’t be a valedictorian for a day. Wear the standard cap and gown that graduates wear along with the headpiece and tassel. Wear a large pin that states you’re the top graduate. Try to look intellectual and serious.

Doctor or Nurse: Purchase scrubs from a thrift store, Wal-mart, or borrow from a friend. Optional: get a stethoscope, or wear a fake name tag on a lanyard.
Cat: Purchase cat ears, make your own tail. Pair with any black outfit you have, and use your makeup to draw whiskers on your face. This do it yourself Halloween costume will take no time at all!

A cheap way to pull off a great costume!
Cowboy or Cowgirl: Wear your jeans and a flannel shirt you already own or buy from a thrift store. Add a large cowboy hat. Optional accessory: create a cardboard star and cover it with foil. Pin to your chest so you can be The Sheriff.
Toga Toga: Sacrifice a sheet from your home, or a used one and wash with bleach. Pin this around your clothes in toga fashion. A craft store will have leaves to make a cheap crown for your head.
Baby: Wear pajamas or overalls, a bib, and a pacifier around your neck. Go with a messy hairstyle or pigtails if your hair is long. Carry a baby bottle, if you want it to look full, use kid’s glue to imitate the milk. Make your own Halloween costume and show your friends you really can be cheap and cool!
Bunny ears: Get yourself some bunny ears, and pair with anything you own white. Add very pink cheeks and a pink nose with your existing makeup.
