There was a time where sewing your own was an only option. One of these times was for a Halloween costume. Now, the choices are some much wider. I would suggest, however, that if you know what couture you want, try to buy it as early as possible. Plus sizes are still made in more limited amounts, and the earlier you can purchase, the more choice you will have.
Several national stores that I am aware of have a fairly wide and updated selection of costumes. A store to definitely visit, even if you are not buying is Spirit Costume stores. There are also multiple on-line buying options all over the internet. I would recommend dealing only with those companies that you know. And don’t forget about looking into sewing an original costume for yourself. I don’t sew well, but my kids loved having costumes that no one else had a school. Even if someone had made the same costume, it was always a little different. You might still have time to hire someone to help you out if you act soon. Going to a fabric store to shop for Halloween can be loads of fun. Now get out there and find your hidden persona!
