Halloween Is The Time For Scary Costumes
It isn’t Halloween unless you see people dressed in scary costumes. Sure, some parents won’t let their children go out dressed as the reaper or any popular horror movie villain. But, there are plenty who do. Scary costumes are a fun way to get into the spirit of Halloween.
Halloween is usually associated with all things horrifying and scary. Some dress to confront their own fears. Others want to scare people. No matter the reasons, it is mostly done in a spirit of good fun.
If you do decide to dress in scary costumes you have a choice as to how elaborate you want to be. Do you want to simply don a mask and go from door to door or do you want to make your look as realistic as possible, complete with theater makeup and authentic clothes?
Here are some tips that will help you find or put together perfect scary costumes.
Decide on a Theme
Before you get started, you need to do some preplanning and make some decisions. Do you want to model your costume after a familiar character or do you want to create something on your own? You also have a lot of choices. Scary costumes come in all different forms such as ghosts, monsters, and villains from popular horror movies.
Find Your Costume
If you do decide to go with a familiar character you can either purchase the costume, borrow it, rent it, or put it together yourself using theater makeup and a little creativity. Check local costume shops, department stores, and ask around. If you are on a budget you may consider making the scary costumes yourself with items found around the house.
Make Your Costume
You have two main choices when it comes to making your own scary costumes. First, you can model the costume after a popular character. Second, you can create your own character based on your own imagination. If you do decide to model the character after something, make sure you get it is accurately as possible.
The Character
You’ll also want to give some thought to creating the character. Think about the mannerisms, what they’ll eat, they way they talk. Pretend you are that character for an evening. But only you can decide how far you want it to go. For example, if you are at a party, it might get tiring pretending to be the character the whole time.

Cheap Halloween Costumes – Family Fun For The Halloween Season
{thumbnail}
Halloween is a time for celebration. It is at that point in the year where the nights are drawing in and it is becoming colder. This festival marks the coming of winter. It can be expensive to dress up, so why not make some cheap Halloween costumes.
The classic costume is of course the ghost. What better use could there be for that old white sheet. It is quick and easy to make and does not need any special sewing skills. All you need is the sheet, a pair of scissors, a marker pen and some safety pins.
In addition it would help if the child was wearing white clothes underneath and had white gloves and shoes. You just need to drape the sheet over the child‘s head and mark out a hem. It should not drape on the ground in case the child falls over it, but should easily clear the ground.
Then mark where their arms come to so that it can be cut so that they can move their arms easily. Very carefully mark where their eyes are. Take off the sheet and cut where you have marked. You should allow quite large eye holes so that they are not in any danger of not being able to see, and a bit of black make up around the eyes would add nicely to the effect.
You may want to use some safety pins to hold it all together. Once they are dressed in white and have their sheet in place then they will look like a very traditional ghost. This will have cost pennies to make.
There are lots of great costumes that can easily be made with a very small amount of effort. Start off with an easy one, then let your imagination run riot. Your kids will soon be the scariest on the block. Cheap Halloween costumes can be fun for the whole family to make.

Couple Halloween Costumes
When it comes to dressing up for Halloween, you have to have fun with it. Children dress up to go door to door looking for treats, but adults like to have fun with friends and family. If you are a part of a couple, you may very well want to do your own thing. However, it is also a lot of fun to find some great couple Halloween costumes. You can find things to fit almost any personality and couple style. Use your imagination, or look for ideas that you can use through the Internet.
There are some that love to go with more traditional and common couple Halloween costumes. There is nothing wrong with that if that is what you want to do. You can go with any famous couples throughout history. Some like to go with king and queen, or Anthony and Cleopatra. You can go with Adam and Eve if you like, or perhaps Tommy Lee and Pam Anderson are more your speed. Elvis and Priscilla can be a popular choice, along with couple Halloween costumes that are of current celebrity couples. This can be political, athletic, or other celebrity couples as well.
Some don’t like the common couple Halloween costumes though, and that is when it is time to use the imagination. You don’t have to go as people if you don’t like, though going as another couple you know can be a lot of fun, and will definitely be original. Think of things that go together, and come up with something fun. You can be peas and carrots, an outlet and plug, pen and notebook, ball and chain (funny for married couple Halloween costumes), or even something like dollars and coins. Almost anything is possible, though some are obviously going to be easier to find or make than others.
What you want to do for your couple Halloween costumes is up to you, but you don’t have to be creative to get something great. If you can make yours on your own, that can be the most fun. However, there are plenty of great options if you know where to shop. You can find some great stores that sell nothing but unique costumes, or you can search the Internet for some great ideas. You can buy there, and get them to your door just in time for Halloween. No matter what your style or personality as a couple, there is always something out there just waiting to be found.

A quick search on the Internet for ideas on homemade decorations will speed up your imaginative powers. You can come up with some creepy looking decorations by making use of simple household items.
One way to decorate your driveway or walkway is to place pumpkin or skeleton luminaries. All you need is brown paper lunch bags, orange or red spray paint, sand, and candles. Take the brown paper bag and cut out a skeleton face or a pumpkin face. You can spray-paint the bags either orange or black or use the colors for alternately placed bags. Weigh down the bags with sand and place small tea candles or votive candles inside glass votive cups in the bags. You can place these creepy luminaries all along the walkway up to the front porch for a spooky effect. It is a great way to lead the trick-or-treaters towards the treats awaiting them.
A glass luminary can be made by using simple glass canning jars. Cut out a skeleton face, a ghost face or a pumpkin face on a sheet of paper. Tape the paper to the front of the jar and spray paint with either black or orange color. Place a candle inside the jar and light it up to give an eerie look to the house!
Another simple Halloween decoration can be made with the help of orange construction paper. Cut out several pumpkin faces and tape these to the windowpane. You can light up the window by just placing a table lamp on the inside. This will throw up spooky shadows to greet your visitors.

A quick search on the Internet for ideas on homemade decorations will speed up your imaginative powers. You can come up with some creepy looking decorations by making use of simple household items. Most often, people like to transform their homes into haunted houses.
The yard is the best place to start with Halloween decorations. You can turn it into a creepy cemetery. You can give it a ghoulish appearance by putting ‘tombstones’ all around it. These can be simple plywood cut out into half- spheres. Attach some nails to the bottom, or push them down into the ground so that they stand up. You can paint them black and put some scary writings on them. The lighting in the yard can also be adjusted to throw eerie shadows over the yard. A few ‘ghosts’ made up of white sheets tied on to bushes will do the trick. Balloon Ghosts in white with attached bells can be left to float in the breeze. Their haunting chimes may scare even the strongest hearted person!
Halloween Crafts for the indoors can be made easily. One way to get a spooky effect in the house is to drape a fine white cloth, artistically painted with a ghost face, on the windowpane. Bats, artificial cobwebs and witch cutouts can be put up on the walls or hung from the ceiling to complete the creepy effect.
Many of these crafts can be made by kids too. However, if there is a need to use power tools for creating them, it is best left to the adults to do the job. Children can be involved to do simple things like painting or gluing on glitter, beads and sequins. This can be a fun activity done together to create something unique.
Your creativity is limited only to your imagination. Use your imagination and creativity while putting together Halloween crafts. As adults, your creations will be much neater since you are now agile while using your hands. Let the kids participate as well. There is nothing better than having a family activity to bring everyone closer! Have fun and enjoy your time with the family during Halloween.
