What is Airbrush Makeup – Does it Work?
Article by Michelle Harris
Airbrush makeup has been around for as long as airbrushing itself–even the actors on the classic Hollywood film ‘Ben Hur’ from the 1930s were dolled up with airbrush makeup. Back then it was simply watered down body paint. Now that airbrush makeup systems have been designed with the consumer in mind, the makeup is extremely high quality and long lasting.
So what is airbrush makeup exactly? Airbrushing is the application of makeup through an airbrush gun. The makeup mixes with air that is supplied to the airbrush through a compressor and is released through the nozzle as a fine mist, or micro-beads. You can imagine the small particles being like little pixels which, to the naked eye, look perfectly blended and natural. This is the key to airbrushing and means that you require far less makeup than traditional makeup. With airbrushing your foundation dries almost instantly, upon contact with the skin and can last for up to 50 hours without smudging or running–even if you wipe it with your sleeve or receive a kiss to the cheek!
Generally the airbrush makeup is either water based or silicone based. The silicone based foundation creates a moist-dewy look–truly radiant and high definition. However, some people are allergic to silicone and should only use water based makeups which, for airbrushing, are still extremely high quality with natural pigments for color and radiance as well as added vitamins and minerals. By using an airbrush gun to apply your makeup it means you never have to touch your skin. While traditional makeup stays on your brush or sponge and, thus, accumulates bacteria, with airbrushing your makeup tools are always clean.
The trick to airbrushing is to always use continuous motion with just small bursts. You will be surprised at how quickly you can create flawless coverage with just a few drops. Blemishes disappear, acne is covered naturally and scars blend seamlessly with the surrounding tones. This is why it can also be applied as a paramedical makeup for those wishing to hide skin problems such as hyper-pigmentation. You can also use the airbrush to create temporary tattoos or alternatively to cover up permanent ones. It is the perfect tool for creating costume makeup and effects for Halloween. All visual FX and costume design specialists use airbrushing in the film industry because it blends so naturally and produces such a life-like appearance. For your own use, when you use the correct tones, you too can create glowing, healthy-looking skin by using the same tools and techniques as these costume makeup artists.
The initial investment in an airbrush makeup system can be a lot of money. Some are as low as 9 whereas professional airbrush makeup kits exceed ,500. Plus, you have to think of the cost of makeup which is generally designed for use in the airbrush gun only. This may not be any more expensive than your current daily makeup routine and many makeup artists use a combination of airbrush makeup and traditional makeup for amazing effect.
Some of the top consumer brands for airbrush makeup are Dinair, Temptu, MAC Air, Luminess Air and the Kett Jett. There are many more out there and if you are thinking about buying an airbrush makeup system make sure you check out reviews and try to get some hands-on experience in a makeup salon or a friend’s home. As you know, the makeup community is always there to help our fellow makeup artists and we love to share our thoughts and tips about airbrush makeup.

Halloween Costume Ideas using Halloween Contacts or Halloween Makeup
Article by Jamie Winters
Another cool thing about colored lens is the ability to use for Halloween events. You can also wear them during any kind of party. So, after Halloween save your contacts and wear them to change up your look. You can wear vampire contacts if you want to pretend to prowl the night looking for more mischief. When people see the wild look in your eyes they’ll be absolutely enchanted. Enchantment!
Halloween contacts are very important component of a Halloween costume. Some do not feel okay wearing an outfit with Halloween in mind without an Halloween contacts to complete the whole character you desired to look like. Halloween contacts comes in various designs, including those hand-painted lenses which are very nice and can be personalized.
Halloween contacts are mostly rounded shapes, but there exists varieties never before seen. These contact lenses are unlike the standard pair and are round in shape and covers the entire eye, matching the shape of your eyes. These contact lenses are often known as sclera contacts and are developed specifically developed to cover the white of your eyes. Modern day people consider these contact lenses as Halloween Contact Lenses. These non prescription colored contacts can be on the pricey side compared to the regular blue contacts or green contacts. But that hasn’t stopped them from exploding into a wild success.
Definitely, Halloween contacts are a fun way for people to dress up. When you have a thematic spooky party to attend or just choose to tear it up as a killer costume for Halloween, scary Halloween contact lenses can make a difference to make you that much more one of a kind. You’ll be able to grab non prescription color contacts in fun colors like purple and bella blue, and one can find even some contact lenses that have phtos imprinted on the forward facing to give you a most impressive look.
Caring for your cosmetic lens is very easy- all you need is a no-rub a chemical solution, a pair of basic non-metallic tweezers and a contact lens case. You can get it all from any drug store. There is no special solution for Halloween lenses so you can use any multipurpose solution – only make sure it’s marked “for soft contact lenses“. If you have several pairs of scary contacts, each should live in its own case.
Make sure your Halloween makeup, and ideas are complimented by the clothing you wear. A good Mummy knows her fashion and will have the correct clothing for Halloween. Think blood dried, torn clothing but not ragged. Be careful not to scare your unsuspecting neighbors by being too realistic with your character.

If you are looking for an interesting or unique costume idea for this Halloween, look no further. This makeup application creates the saddest looking child I have ever seen. This would also be a great costume if you are planning a theatrical fundraiser for children in need.
We could all use a little awareness. Most of my makeup applications do not require any special cosmetics but this one is a bit harder and will require some hard to find products. I recommend searching the internet or asking your local salon for these harder to find products.
For this childlike makeup application you will need:
Moisturizer
Tweezers
Eye Brow Wax
Eye Brow Sealer
Cream Foundation
Concealer
Pressed Face Powder
Cosmetic Sponge
Bright Powder Blue Toned Powder Eye Shadow
Dark Blue Eye Pencil
Hot Pink Powder Blush
Sheer Orange Red Lip Color
Dark Brown Brow Pencil
First, prepare your skin with moisturizer. You should so this before you put makeup on anytime.
Next, tweeze any stray eye brow hairs that you may have. Cover your eye brows with eye brow wax. When they have set completely, apply sealer over the top of your waxed eye brows. When this is dry, cover your brows with concealer of an appropriate tone and blend very well.
Then, apply any concealer you may need anywhere else on your face. Cover your entire face with foundation and blend very well. Cover your entire face staring in the center with pressed face powder using a circular cosmetic sponge.
Now, sweep a bright powder blue toned powder eye shadow onto your eye from lash line to crease and corner to corner. Basically you want to cover your whole eye lid.
Line your upper eye along the rim with a dark blue eye pencil. Smudge this into your lashes a bit.
Next, sweep hot pink powder blush onto your cheek bones going as far up as your natural brow line. You will want this ti stand out so use plenty of blush.
Then, put on your reddish orange lip color using a lip brush. Keep to the inside of your lip line when applying color to help create a pouty look. You may wish to conceal the corners of your mouth to look more childlike.
Last, draw a thin long and curved line about an inch above your covered brows to create your new eye brows.

Halloween Is The Time For Scary Costumes
It isn’t Halloween unless you see people dressed in scary costumes. Sure, some parents won’t let their children go out dressed as the reaper or any popular horror movie villain. But, there are plenty who do. Scary costumes are a fun way to get into the spirit of Halloween.
Halloween is usually associated with all things horrifying and scary. Some dress to confront their own fears. Others want to scare people. No matter the reasons, it is mostly done in a spirit of good fun.
If you do decide to dress in scary costumes you have a choice as to how elaborate you want to be. Do you want to simply don a mask and go from door to door or do you want to make your look as realistic as possible, complete with theater makeup and authentic clothes?
Here are some tips that will help you find or put together perfect scary costumes.
Decide on a Theme
Before you get started, you need to do some preplanning and make some decisions. Do you want to model your costume after a familiar character or do you want to create something on your own? You also have a lot of choices. Scary costumes come in all different forms such as ghosts, monsters, and villains from popular horror movies.
Find Your Costume
If you do decide to go with a familiar character you can either purchase the costume, borrow it, rent it, or put it together yourself using theater makeup and a little creativity. Check local costume shops, department stores, and ask around. If you are on a budget you may consider making the scary costumes yourself with items found around the house.
Make Your Costume
You have two main choices when it comes to making your own scary costumes. First, you can model the costume after a popular character. Second, you can create your own character based on your own imagination. If you do decide to model the character after something, make sure you get it is accurately as possible.
The Character
You’ll also want to give some thought to creating the character. Think about the mannerisms, what they’ll eat, they way they talk. Pretend you are that character for an evening. But only you can decide how far you want it to go. For example, if you are at a party, it might get tiring pretending to be the character the whole time.

Proper utilization of creative Halloween costume make-up helps you to achieve the look which is realistic and that creep out friends as well as family. While it’s true spooky costumes, treats, games, and parties, are the rules and regulations on Halloween party. But when it comes to your costume this Halloween, don’t give in to the urge for buying yet another hot and uncomfortable Halloween mask. Not only it looks fake, but also makes you feel uncomfortably in all evenings as well. Here are some great Halloween costume tips for using makeup for achieving a life-like Halloween appearance in the coming year.
Age yourself to perfection
Do u wish to know how you’ll look like in the next 40 years? Try applying liquid latex wrinkles to your face so that you can get the latex at any halloween costume store, and applying it for the preferred effect that couldn’t be achieved easier:
- Puff up your cheeks and be relevant by applying a thin coat of liquid latex with a small sponge.
- Keep your eyes tightly shut and apply some latex to the lower corners of your eyes.
- Once the latex is dry, releases the air from your cheeks and makes yourself ready and apply a coat of foundation makeup and you can also add some food coloring to the makeup to create a skin tone in your choice of colors.
The latex will make the look of your eyes droopier and saggy and your skin will be crumpled to perfection. Now you can do up from here and additional makeup effects as needed. Here’s also a great trick for adding up a hairy wart to your face. Put a drop of false eyelash glue onto a peppercorn and apply it on your face. Then just glue a few strands from a paintbrush and so you will be the proud owner of a very ugly wart! Just be sure not to put it very close to your eyes or you’l also be the proud owner of swollen and painful eyeballs that may look great but won’t leave you feeling all that well.
Become the Zombie Bride with the Right Make-Up
The zombie bride is an easily achieved effect if the instant idea aging doesn’t demand to you. Other than wearing a dirty and tattered white dress, all you have to do is paint your face and lips white, using theatrical greasepaint, and apply thick black rings around your eyes. Now gel your hair up and run your fingers for generating the worst “bad hair day” you’ve ever had.
Or the Zombie Groom
You can be a zombie groom only if you’re a man. The makeup process is the identical and the look is also great. Consider if you’d rather be a deranged doctor/nurse. Just get a hold of a pair of hospital scrubs and sprinkle your face, hair, and clothing as well with fake blood along. You can also find a good recipe for fake blood in our Halloweenfantasy.com and is an easy effect for attaining the precise output.
The outfit creates a “toga party” looks. Then just paint your face in green, accentuate your eyes with gold, and throw a few rubber snakes in your hair together with it so that you can be seen beautiful and scary at the same time! Whatever you decide to “become” this year will necessitate creativity easily. Put on your costume for letting your thoughts run wild after applying your Halloween makeup. Whilst you decide to drink or eat something in the evening time, definitely you should be thankful, as you didn’t wear a Halloween mask. Also remember Halloween festival is nothing but all about having fun!
