Halloween’s coming up soon, and now’s the best time to start planning. And if you’re like most people, the menu is probably the first thing on your mind. It’s true that planning the Halloween table can be tricky—you want something the kids will love, but you don’t want to leave out older guests either. How can you plan a Halloween menu that will appeal to everyone and fit your budget? It’s a lot easier than you think—here are some suggestions to help you out.
A big candy bowl
If you’re holding a party for kids, save them the trouble of trick-or-treating and give them a giant bowl of treats. Just got a big container and fill it with sweets of all kinds. You can also add some fruit and toys to fill it out, as well as add color. Look for a stylish container that can work as a centerpiece—you can use an old bottle or glass box, or just wrap some black and orange ribbon around a big clear bowl.
Halloween cupcakes
Everyone’s got a sweet tooth, and there’s no better time to indulge than at Halloween. If you want something more filling than candy, try making Halloween cupcakes. You can just get store-bought cakes and decorate them yourself if you’re in a hurry. Use colored frosting and candy toppers to create all sorts of designs, such as monsters, bugs, mummies and witches. It’s a lot easier than it seems, and you can even get your kids to design their own!
A pumpkin bowl
Many people consider pumpkin soup a staple for Halloween parties. This is especially true in cold places, where October starts getting chilly and a bowl of hot soup just really fits the occasion. Make your own jack-o-lantern bowl by hollowing out a pumpkin and baking it until it’s hard and crisp. It looks nice on your table and adds a definite Halloween theme to your party.
Finger food platter
Halloween parties tend to be casual, so finger foods and appetizers make a good fit. Prepare a bunch of different finger foods and arrange them creatively on stylish platters. Use a bunch of small colorful bowls for the dips. You can make some of them in advance—just freeze them and reheat each platter just before serving.

In Egypt, mummification was once a very common practice and hence the fear was born. Some studies sparked the fear of being buried while still alive. The early 20′s, King Tut’s grave was located and inspired many fears of mummification. Directors and Hollywood producers used the ideal in their movies, therefore spreading the fear of mummies. But the vampire didn’t become the enticing gentleman popularized in Western culture until 1819′s “The Vampyre” and 1897′s Dracula. The latter was also influenced by the stories about Vlad the Impaler, a real Transylvanian ruler who did many unspeakable things to those he felt had wronged him.

The dead would rise and walk about on the earth at night. The studies show that zombies may have been real due to the fact of practices of powerful dual drugs that caused a person to behave as if dead. The person would rise up out of the grave, when the drugs effects had disappeared. They usually always suffered permanent damage.

Like ghosts, witches are very commonly associated with Halloween ideas, including costumes. Witches, like ghosts and vampires, have a long history with the human race, even pre-dating the ancient celebrations of this holiday. Witches are a complex subject because the term can refer to the people wrongly accused of the crime then tortured or killed during witch hunts like the ones in Salem and all over the world, to folk medicine practitioners who used herbal medicine to heal people as if by magic, to pagan nature worshippers, or to people who use magic and spells to control people, the environment, and the world. Although witches have been depicted in many ways throughout different cultures, the modern Western view likely to appear on free Halloween invitations was probably shaped by the appearance of the Wicked Witch of the West in the Wizard of Oz film from 1939.
Hanging fake spider webs and creating your own lanterns is one way to decorate your house during Halloween. If you want to make something bigger or more life like, why not add a mummy?
To make one, you don’t have to buy a mannequin or an inflatable. You will need though a lot of newspaper since this will help make up the entire body.
When all the parts are ready, hold everything together using some tape then begin wrapping the mummy using bandages. The best ones to use are those used in the hospital. Since this is too expensive, you will have to substitute this with toilet paper instead. It is best to use the plain kind since people will probably laugh if they noticed that it has a flowery design.
Now that your mummy is ready, put this where there is a lot of traffic like beside the front door to your house or in the dining room.
If you want to scare people, put this in places where they don’t expect like the bathtub or the closet. If people ask where the toilet is, just give them the directions. The same goes if people come in and want to hang their coat then just wait until you hear a loud scream.
Another way of making a mummy will require adult size clothes for a large mummy and child size clothes for a small one. When you have it, lay these on the floor and start stuffing it using newspaper. If you notice, the end result will make your mummy look like a scarecrow.
For the hands of the mummy, get a pair of gloves then attach this to the arm then wrap this up using toilet paper or gauze. If you can spare an old white bed sheet which you can cut into strips, even better.
As for the head, try inflating a balloon or a gallon sized milk jug then put this near the collar of the shirt. Continue wrapping until you are also able to cover the mummy’s face. If you want to put some eyes, use black construction paper then glue this on the face.
While most mummies lie still, you can make your mummy different by letting it sit upright on a chair. One suggestion will be put the chair beside the table where the candies are.
Your life sized mummy will look great wherever you decide to put it. If the tissue, gauze or strips should come off just patch it up as fast as you can.
Although most mummies are color white, you can give it an aged appearance by using some spray paint. The two ideal colors to use for this are translucent beige and brown which you can easily buy from the craft store.
When Halloween is all over, take one last look at the mummy and then take it apart. Some of the stuff you use can be recycled for next year while the rest has to be thrown in the trash.
Now that you know how to make a life sized mummy, you can also use the toilet paper and gauze to create your own Halloween costume. If the two are identical, some people will think that they are talking to you when actually they are talking to a dummy.
